Phenomics Australia Communications and Outreach Coordinator Dr Marina Trigueros was invited by the Australian Society for Medical Research (ASMR) to attend the 2023 ASMR Medallist, Professor Manu O. Platt Address at the National Press Club of Australia (NPC) on Tuesday, June 6th, 2023.

Dr Platt is the inaugural director of the US-based NIH-wide Center for Biomedical Engineering Technology Acceleration. He is a biomedical engineer, committed to trans-disciplinary research, his projects and research spans global health, tissue engineering, and personalised, predictive medicine. His research addresses health disparities in the US and global health concerns.

Dr Platt is dedicated to mentoring the next generation of scientists and directs Project ENGAGES- providing paid research opportunities for African-American high school students. His commitment to diversity and inclusion has earned him recognition as an Emerging Scholar by Diverse: Issues in Higher Education magazine.

The ASMR Medal was presented to Dr Platt at the NPC, prior to the Address.
