Phenomics Australia proudly participated in Science Meets Parliament 2025, commemorating 25 years of fostering connections between the STEM sector and policymakers.
Our Board Member, Professor Glenn Withers and National Coordinator, Dr. Twishi Gulati, engaged in meaningful discussions with Parliamentarians, emphasising the critical role of research infrastructure in advancing Australia’s scientific landscape.

Dr Gulati met with Dr Gordon Reid MP, Dr Jocelyne Mulangala, Prof. Shaun Gregory, and A/Prof. Kylie Dunning.

Professor Withers, alongside Ms Anntonette Dailey and Ms Tully Mahr, connected with The Hon. Paul Fletcher MP. These interactions provided valuable insights into the collaborative efforts required to enhance the nation’s research capabilities.
During the National Press Club Address, The Hon. Ed Husic MP, Minister for Industry and Science, unveiled a discussion paper for the Strategic Examination of R&D. He highlighted the necessity to reverse Australia’s 15-year decline in R&D investment and transition from a consumer to a producer of technology.
“Australia’s R&D investment is now a full percentage point below the OECD average—and well behind global leaders. We must reverse this 15-year decline and shift Australia from a consumer of technology to a producer. We need to turbocharge our ambitions and get all parts of the R&D system working together.” Minister for Industry and Science Ed Husic MP said.
We extend our gratitude to Science & Technology Australia for organizing this exceptional event, which continues to strengthen the bridge between science and policy. Phenomics Australia remains committed to advocating for robust research infrastructure and fostering innovation across the nation.
