We were delighted to host a distinguished delegation from the Jilin China-Japan Union Hospital for a special tour of Phenomics Australia‘s cutting-edge facilities on March 1st, during their visit to ANU’s College of Health and Medicine (CHM).
This visit marked a milestone in our ongoing efforts to foster collaborative engagement, share insights into our pioneering work, and showcase Phenomics Australia’s activities as a prime example of the benefits stemming from National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy (NCRIS) investments. Additionally, they learned how the Precision Health Platforms at the John Curtin School of Medical Research (JCSMR) and CHM address clinical needs through research and research infrastructure (RI) capabilities.
The delegates had the opportunity to gain insights from Phenomics Australia CEO, Prof. Michael Dobbie, and Prof. Ruth Arkell, Head of the Maternal-Foetal Precision Health Laboratory and Associate Director (Research Infrastructure) at JCSMR. They delved into the Precision Health Research journey, spanning from patient to treatment, exploring the wide-ranging applications, expertise, and impacts facilitated by Phenomics Australia, including its role within the NCRIS Health Group.
They were able to visit several facilities and groups during their tour. These included the Australian Phenomics Facility (APF), where they were guided by Dr Anna Acuna, Head of Animal Services; the Australian Phenome Bank (APB), with guidance from Ms Nathalie Doucet, IVF-Cryogenics Senior Technical Officer; the ANU Centre for Therapeutic Discovery (ACTD), led by A/Prof. Amee George; and the Biomolecular Resources Facility (BRF), managed by Ms. Stephanie Palmer. Additionally, they learned about the Cytometry, Histology and Spatial MultiOmics (CHaSM) group and the ANU Bioinformatics Consultancy (ABC) groups.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to all those who contributed to the planning and execution of this tour, specially Phenomics Australia Board member Prof. Glen Withers for his invaluable leadership in arranging this visit and to our esteemed guests for taking the time to explore our facilities. We are grateful for their engagement with our work and we look forward to their continuing interest in Phenomics Australia and NCRIS.
