We were absolutely delighted to welcome a distinguished delegation from Science and Technology Australia (STA) to Phenomics Australia’s cutting-edge facilities on the 3rd of July.

This visit marked an important milestone in our ongoing efforts to foster collaborative engagement, share insights into our pioneering work, and highlight the impact of Phenomics Australia as a model of both inter- and intra-National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy (NCRIS) investment and benefit.

The delegation heard from Phenomics Australia CEO, Professor Michael Dobbie, about our “Clinic to Discovery” model — a unique journey from patient to treatment — and where Phenomics Australia provides expertise. Several impactful examples illustrated how precision medicine, enabled through NCRIS Health Group collaboration, is delivering real-world outcomes.

Visitors toured key Phenomics Australia facilities, including the Australian Phenomics Facility, the Genome Targeting Facility (GTF) and the Australian Phenome Bank, gaining first-hand insights into our national infrastructure supporting gene function discovery and biobanking. The delegation also visited the ANU Centre for Therapeutic Discovery, where cutting-edge approaches to drug development were showcased, and the Biomolecular Resource Facility (BRF) supported by Bioplatforms Australia.

Beyond health, the delegates learned about the broad impact of Phenomics Australia’s work — from addressing environmental challenges to combating agricultural pests, invasive species, and managing biosecurity risks. Our infrastructure and expertise support innovation across diverse domains.

Our passionate and knowledgeable staff also engaged in thoughtful conversations with the STA team, sharing their career pathways and how they are leveraging advanced genetics and precision medicine technologies to uncover gene function for better health outcomes.

We warmly invite our guests to return in the near future as we continue to advance and share groundbreaking developments. We look forward to their ongoing interest in Phenomics Australia and in the broader NCRIS ecosystem.
