Phenomenal Science is a podcast that follows the journey of researchers and technical experts who are a part of our networks and use our expertise to conduct groundbreaking research into precision medicine.
Hosted by Phenomics Australia Communications Assistant, Ms Bridget Elliott-Rudder, the podcast explores the ways in which we support researchers to discover the genetic drivers of human disease and enable high-impact healthcare outcomes in precision medicine.
Our second episode features Ms Tina Cardamone, service manager of Phenomics Australia histopathology and digital slide service at the University of Melbourne Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences. Ms Cardamone is a foundational part of our histopathology and digital slide service, acting as both manager, senior scientist and mouse pathobiologist. Her knowledge and technical expertise enable biomedical research right across Australia to better understand disease processes and help them develop new therapeutics and strategies for disease prevention.

“ I’ve been fortunate because I found some little diamonds in the rough and at the moment, I’ve got a couple of juniors that we’re training up. So, I think we’ve got a good team. I think the service is in good hands.”
In this episode, we will follow the journey of a non-academic career pathway in science. We will explore how Tina started in medical diagnostics and evolved into the position she now holds, using her specialise ability to evaluate and determine morphological changes or pathology identified diversions from normal functions. Through these interviews, we showcase and communicate the impact of Phenomics Australia’s support on research outcomes and celebrate our researchers.
