” We welcome the Government’s commencement of the preparation of the 2021 National Infrastructure Roadmap, and we look forward to supporting the Expert Working Group during the consultation phase to set out Australia’s research infrastructure capability and future areas of need for the next five to ten years as we progress our own vision for health discovery and translation.”
As a first meeting, we were very pleased to host a delegation of government officials from the Department of Education, Skills, and Employment (DESE) to our facilities on the 6th of May. This visit was part of a familiarisation tour to learn about Phenomics Australia activities as an example of inter and intra National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy (NCRIS) investments and benefits.
The delegates got to learn from Phenomics Australia CEO, Dr Michael Dobbie, about the research going on in a “Clinic to Discovery” journey, from the patient to the treatment through all the stages Phenomics Australia provides expertise on, and the precision medicine basis underpinning it.
Phenomics Australia’s expert staff also got to talk to the visitors about their careers and how they are using advanced genetics and precision medicine technologies to discover gene function for better health.
We look forward to their continuing interest in Phenomics Australia and NCRIS, and hope to see them back soon as the Roadmap consultations continue.
