Phenomics Australia was proud to participate in Science Meets Parliament 2026, where over two days, more than 400 STEM professionals came together to discuss career development, strengthen networks, and engage with policymakers.
A significant milestone for this year’s event was the involvement of more than 40 per cent of Australia’s parliamentarians, highlighting the growing recognition of science and research in national policy discussions.
Our Board Member, Dr Fabio Turatti, engaged in meaningful discussions with Ms Tracey Roberts, MP, Member for Pearce, emphasising the critical role of research infrastructure in advancing Australia’s scientific capability and innovation ecosystem. These conversations reinforced the importance of collaboration between the research sector and government to strengthen the nation’s research capacity.
At the National Press Club Address, attendees heard from Minister for Industry and Innovation and Minister for Science, Senator Tim Ayres, who highlighted that Australian science is firmly on the Government’s agenda.
Referencing the Ambitious Australia report, Senator Ayres spoke about the need for a whole-of-government approach to research and innovation and expressed his ambition for meaningful reform across the sector.
Phenomics Australia’s CEO, Prof. Michael Dobbie, and Deputy CEO, A/Prof. Jim Hennessy also attended the Gala Dinner, where they had the opportunity to connect with leaders across the STEM sector and engage in meaningful networking discussions, including with representatives from NCRIS capabilities and the broader research community.
