Phenomics Australia Strategic Partnerships Advisor Dr John Parisot proudly represented Phenomics Australia as a sponsor of the Australasian Society for Stem Cell Research (ASSCR) 2025 Annual Scientific Meeting, held in the Gold Coast.

The annual event brings together key leaders within stem cell sciences, along with early-mid career researchers (EMCR) and postgraduate students, to discuss the next generation of innovative stem research and how their findings may be translated to improve human health.

This year’s theme, Riding the Stem Cell Wave from Innovation to Translation, inspired conversation and exploration into a range of cutting-edge topics such as innovative tools and technologies, stem cells in translation medicine, and much more.

The impact of Phenomics Australia’s support was seen across the event with celebrations of awards and stimulating talks

We are proud to have announced that the ASSCR 2025 Catalyst Prize has been awarded to Phenomics Australia Scientific Director Prof. Christine Wells and the Stemformatics Atlas Team for their outstanding contributions to the stem cell community, recognising their exceptional innovation, collaboration and transformative impact in the last five years.  Invited Speakers Phenomics Australia Scientific Directors, A/Prof. Louise Cheng (Australian Transgenic Drosophila Facility, Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre) and Dr Alex Combes (Monash Genome Modification Platform, Monash University) gave insights into the ways dedifferentiated cells can give rise to oncogenic tumours and into disease modelling in human kidney organoids.

2025 ASSCR Rising Star was awarded to Dr Ana Nunez Nescolarde from the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research for her analysis of human kidney organoid and tubuloid models. Enabled with the support of infrastructure and resources of Phenomics Australia nodes at the Monash Biomedicine Discovery Institute Organoid Program and the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute, their work is poised to make a lasting impact. Phenomics Australia is proud to support the next generation of stem cell researchers and the ASSCR. Earlier this year, Phenomics Australia supported the two ASSCR EMCR Symposiums held in NSW and VIC. These symposiums encourage early career researchers connect with others in the community, showcase their research and provides a valuable opportunity for networking and career development.
