Phenomics Australia proudly sponsored the Organoid Nexus 2025: Application Workflow from Production to Practice, helping to support national engagement and strengthen networks toward future clinical and translational breakthroughs.
The event, hosted by Functional High Throughput Technologies Australia, on 21 November 2025 at the Bio21 Institute in Parkville, VIC, brought together leading scientists, clinicians, and industry innovators for a full day of collaboration and knowledge-sharing.
The program highlighted how organoid technologies are rapidly reshaping biomedical research, offering highly representative models of human tissues and disease and advancing the potential for personalised medicine. Presentations showcased integrated workflows, from organoid production and expansion through to screening and data analysis, designed to improve reproducibility, scalability, and translational outcomes.
Attendees explored a comprehensive schedule that covered:
- generation and optimisation of organoids
- advanced characterisation approaches
- high-throughput screening innovations
- automation and machine learning integration
- clinical applications and collaboration initiatives
Spotlight talks demonstrated cutting-edge applications, including cancer organoid platforms, neurodegenerative disease modelling, infectious disease research, bioprinting advancements, and strategies to translate organoid findings into therapeutic opportunities.
The program featured several contributions from the Phenomics Australia team, highlighting its national role in enabling research infrastructure and collaboration, including:

- “Miniaturisation of organoid systems for high-throughput screening” by Phenomics Australia Scientific Director, A/Prof. Amee George, Australian National University (ANU Centre for Therapeutic Discovery, ACTD).
- “Advanced co-culture models for evaluating immune cell efficacy” by Mark Li, Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre (Victorian Centre for Functional Genomics, VCFG)
The conference concluded with a national discussion focused on shaping Australia’s vision for future organoid applications, featuring contributions from Phenomics Australia’s team, including Dr Twishi Gulati and Dr John Parisot and other key research infrastructure partners.
Organoid Nexus 2025 proved to be a significant milestone and a unique opportunity for scientists, clinicians, and industry partners to collaborate and advance organoid technologies that will define the next generation of medical research and patient care.
