The NCRIS Communications Network came together on Thursday, 24th of September, at The University of Queensland’s Australian Institute for Bioengineering and Nanotechnology (AIBN) for a full day of ideas, insights, collaboration and plenty of opportunities to learn from one another.
Phenomics Australia’s communications team, Dr Marina Trigueros and Ms Bridget Elliott-Rudder, were pleased to be there, enjoying the opportunity to connect with fellow NCRIS communicators, share experiences and take part in lively discussions about the opportunities and challenges facing science communications.
The forum featured:
- Lightning talks and communications challenges
- Finding and sharing impactful stories
- A workshop on the strategic use of AI in communications
- Strategic communication and policy insights to inform the 2028 NCRIS Roadmap
- Group discussion on lessons learned and process improvement
And, of course, no research infrastructure communications forum would be complete without getting a first-hand look at the infrastructure behind the research!
We had the opportunity to explore some of the many NCRIS-supported facilities at AIBN. Our Scientific Director, Dr Andrew Prowse, gave us a tour of the Australian Organoid Facility, supported by Phenomics Australia. We also visited the Centre for Advanced Imaging and its impressive MRI Research Lab, supported by the National Imaging Facility, as well as facilities operated by the Australian National Fabrication Facility (ANFF).
A big thank you to AIBN, Research Infrastructures Connected (RIC) and Therapeutic Innovation Australia (TIA) for sponsoring the day, and to everyone who shared their expertise, ideas and experiences.
It was a fantastic opportunity to connect with peers across the NCRIS community, learn from each other and see the research infrastructure we communicate about in action.
