National Science Week 2025 has officially launched – and it’s the biggest one yet!

On Tuesday, 6th August, Phenomics Australia’s Communications Manager, Dr Marina Trigueros, was honoured to attend the official launch of National Science Week at Questacon – The National Science and Technology Centre.

The event marked a vibrant gathering of Australia’s leading scientists, innovators, and science communicators, all united in a shared celebration of ideas, discovery, and curiosity. The atmosphere was one of enthusiasm and anticipation as the scientific community came together to launch this significant national initiative.

Distinguished guests in attendance included Superstars of STEM Dr Grace Lethlean and Dr Angeline Achariya, as well as Taungurung man and eco-engineer, Dr Shannon Kilmartin-Lynch, for a panel discussion led by Jo White, Director of Questacon. Minister for Science Tim Ayres attended via a video message to officially launch National Science Week. Chief Scientist Dr Tony Haymet delivered a speech to open the discussion, while David Smith MP and ACT MLA Elizabeth Lee joined the event in person. They were among many other dedicated champions of science who took part in the event.

“Whether it’s your first Science Week or your twenty-eighth, the sense of anticipation is clear — a shared enthusiasm that comes with a nationwide celebration of science. This year’s program is the largest to date, offering a wide range of events aimed at sparking curiosity and providing new ways to look at the world around us.”

National Science Week 2025 invites us all to engage in a diverse range of scientific experiences. From interactive experiments to thought-provoking lectures, this year’s program offers something for everyone, fostering a spirit of discovery across the nation.
