Phenomics Australia is seeking a Technical Officer for the Australian Phenome Bank to support the team through animal husbandry, laboratory duties, and assisted reproductive technology services in accordance with approved Safe Work Procedures.

  • Salary package: $81,296 – $97,918per annum plus 17% superannuation
  • Terms: Full-time, Continuing (Contingent Funded)

The Person

Reporting to the Australian Phenome Bank (APB) Manager and Assisted Reproductive Technologies (ART) Coordinator, the Technical Officer will support APB operations through animal husbandry, laboratory duties, and assisted reproductive technology services in accordance with approved Safe Work Procedures.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Provide high‑quality animal husbandry, including daily care, health monitoring, accurate record keeping, and maintaining clean holding areas.
  • Perform technical procedures on mice, including injections and sample collection.
  • Assist with assisted reproductive technologies such as tissue harvesting, sperm cryopreservation, and embryo transfer procedures.
  • Operate and maintain specialised laboratory equipment and ensure compliance with OGTR and Animal Ethics requirements.
  • Maintain laboratory spaces, records, and databases; assist with compliance checks, Safe Work Procedures, and risk assessments.
  • Undertake other duties as required from time to time consistent with the classification level of the position.
  • Communicate professionally with clients and stakeholders and comply with all ANU policies and procedures.
