A heartfelt thank you to the many presenters, attendees, and members of the International Program Committee who contributed to the success of ICRI 2024.
This year’s conference brought together approximately 420 participants from 50 nations who travelled to Brisbane for a rewarding, productive, and thought-provoking event. ICRI 2024 was also streamed online to maximise global engagement, allowing over 500 additional participants from 39 countries to join virtually. Notably, many of these online attendees came from countries not otherwise represented at the in-person event.
For the first time in its history, ICRI was hosted in the Asia-Pacific region. This milestone introduced fresh voices and perspectives to the global research infrastructure community, fostering deeper engagement with the region. The conference welcomed participants from 11 Southeast Asian and Pacific nations, further strengthening regional collaboration.
ICRI 2024 also marked another significant first: a focus on Indigenous knowledge and engagement. We extend our gratitude to the First Nations representatives from around the globe who generously shared their ideas and concepts—often grounded in wisdom and science developed over thousands of years. Their contributions enriched the discussions and expanded the conversation about the role of research infrastructure in advancing knowledge.
ICRI 2024 was made possible through a collaborative effort between Australia’s national science agency, CSIRO, the European Commission, and the Australian Department of Education.
