EMBL Australia has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to join the NCRIS Health Group, strengthening Australian collaborative health research.

The NCRIS Health Group, supported by the Australian Government’s National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy (NCRIS), unites world-class research capabilities to address complex health challenges through innovative and translational research. The group includes Bioplatforms Australia, National Imaging Facility, Phenomics Australia, Population Health Research Network, and Therapeutic Innovation Australia.

The NCRIS Health Group will leverage EMBL Australia’s extensive expertise in life sciences and strong linkages to international research infrastructure and expertise, facilitating knowledge transfer and impactful outcomes across the entire research translation cycle.

“ This is a great outcome, opening the door to building even stronger international linkages as well as providing the Australian and European research communities reciprocal access to unique infrastructure, expertise and training capabilities”, says Prof Ian Smith, EMBL Australia Council Chair.

The NCRIS Health Group supports cross-disciplinary research, enabling Australian researchers to address health issues that require a multi-faceted approach. The collaboration supports areas such as disease modelling, drug target identification, medical product development, and clinical trials.
