We’re excited to share that Phenomics Australia has published a compelling commentary in Mammalian Genome Journal!
This publication highlights the critical role of research infrastructure in advancing knowledge of health and disease, fostering innovation, and supporting health and medical research through world-class facilities and expertise.
Phenomics Australia, as Australia’s national provider of research infrastructure, drives progress in mammalian functional genomics and precision medicine through engineered disease model production, phenotyping, and biobanking. Enabled by the National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy, Phenomics Australia aligns its mission with national priorities outlined in the 2021 National Research Infrastructure (NRI) Roadmap, including enhancing digital research infrastructure, research translation, and biological collections management.
The commentary explores Phenomics Australia’s response to these priorities and emphasises the need for a nationally coordinated approach to biological models research infrastructure. Such an approach would ensure standardisation, quality control, and shared resources, advancing reproducibility, research integrity, and impactful clinical applications. The upcoming 2026 NRI Roadmap presents an exciting opportunity to co-design a sustainable national strategy, fostering innovation and supporting a robust ecosystem for preclinical research and beyond.
