Celebrate National Science Week 2025 with Phenomics Australia, NCRIS, and the Australian Government Department of Education as we showcase the power of science and innovation.
National Science Week is Australia’s annual celebration of science, engineering, mathematics, technology, and innovation. This year’s theme is: Seeds of Science: Nurturing Knowledge for All.
Running from 15–23 August, there are lots of online events to check out, as well as activity ideas for people to do at home or in their neighbourhood. Most National Science Week events are free and open to the public. Search this year’s events by your favourite topics here.
“Science and technology are central to Australia’s future prosperity, wellbeing and economic resilience. They help Australia improve national health outcomes, protect vulnerable environments, strengthen regional communities, and create new jobs and industries.
This year’s theme invites students to think about how ideas begin, how they are tested, and how they grow when shared. It reminds us that scientific understanding does not appear fully formed. It starts small – like seed – and depends on the right conditions: curiosity, evidence, collaboration and time.”
– The Hon Tim Ayres MP. Minister for Industry and Innovation and Minister for Science
